Principle of Operation
High Pressure Ball Valve works on the principle of quarter turn movement. The valve design has either a floating ball or a trunnion ball depending on the pressure rating and valve dimensions. Working Principle
Valve Open Position
In opening the valve, rotating the handle or actuator results in rotation of the ball to the open position. In this case, the bore in the ball is aligned with the pipeline. The result is unobstructed flow of fluids with low pressure drop and optimal efficiency of flow.
Valve Closed Position
When the valve is turned through 90 degrees, the solid portion of the ball blocks the path of flow. This creates a positive shut off without any leaks, despite the high pressure at which the fluids might be flowing.
Quarter Turn Design
The valve works on the principle of a simple quarter turn. This means that from full open position to a full shut off position requires 90-degree rotation only.
